On the south coast of Papua New Guinea, hunter launch their canoe, their quarry, a dugong. At high water, dugongs swim up from the deeper parts of the sea to the shallows of the reefs there to graze on seagrass. But to catch them, even to find them, in the empty immensity of the sea calls for great skill and experience, and many of these hunters are convinced it needs something else as well, magic!
