Papua New Guinea is situated east of the 141st meridan, longitude it stretches from the equator to near the northern most tip of Australia. It is the world's largest island after Greenland. Established timbers which have been popular throughout the world are slowly diminishing. Many importers are now beginning to investigate alternatives. Papua New Guinea substitutes are equivalent and in some cases considered superior. Their timbers have good machining and finishing qualities.
