General note The glittering feathers of the many species of birds of paradise are essential wearing in the huge displays of wealth and prestige that loom so large in the life of tribal New Guinea. One of the most valued plumes of all are the twin pennants that sprout from the head of the King of Saxonys bird. Only a skilled hunter knows where in the forest this particular species can be found and how to catch it, and few a more skilled than Onca, one of the big men of the Melba people in the Western Highlands.
